Team Development
Highly effective teams. Is that not the dream of any leader to see the team they belong to fly?
Results
When a team is highly effective, the sky becomes the limit of what it can achieve. Highly effective teams are those teams who, no matter what the environment they operate in and the demands placed on them, can deliver.
Key ingredients for a team to operate at its best
-
Awareness
The first step is to raise a team’s awareness of how it operates. What is supporting its efficiency and what is hindering it? We come to an increased awareness through observations of the team in action, through the use of various psychometric instruments that provide an overall picture of each team member’s natural preferences and styles, and through observations of highly effective team discussions about their similarities and differences

Identification
Once the team has gained awareness, then we can start to work on identifying gaps. These usually lie in one of the several key basic ingredients which aren’t being adequately shared by all team members. Working with a team can take the form of a few sessions to observe and provide an overview of identified patterns before discussing a way forward with the team who will then develop on its own. Or we can support the team on this development as well, in which case the programme can last longer.
How we work with your team…
BrainShop works in parallel with a team and its individuals. Using psychometric tools, structured feedback sessions, qualitative questionnaires, and individual discussions we ensure everyone is aware of who they are and what impact they have within the team. Helping them to step back and consider their contribution in a new light.
As each team member reaches their ‘aha moment’ things start to change for the better and we begin to embed new behaviours, new habits, and new ways of operating together.
Sessions are structured whilst leaving sufficient space for brainstorming, deep conversations, and individual reflective time. Teams leave these sessions with a commitment towards putting new skills into practice. Individual members leave with a commitment to review how their contribution towards team effectiveness can be enhanced. The programme continues until the team and each of its members is satisfied with the progress made.
Some teams like to have a review of their team effectiveness once a year in the form of a day off-site to review and reflect on its patterns of operating and any issues or opportunities it has identified.
